This position is located on the Lassen National Forest duty location is Chester, CA.
The incumbent operates and maintains engineering equipment in support of the road system and other program areas and drives vehicles that require a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Duties
Operate road graders on steep and rough terrain to level and grade earth, including roads, to exact specifications.
Routinely operate heavy trucks and vehicles with manual transmissions, dual transmissions and multiple gear boxes
Perform preventive maintenance and make minor repairs and adjustments on automobiles, trucks and heavy equipment.
Adjust the heavy equipment attachments for proper level, angle, or depth, according to the work to be done and the type of equipment used.
Use blue prints, specifications, diagrams or work orders associated with road maintenance or earth moving to produce work meeting such specifications.
Operate a dump truck and semi-truck with trailer with maximum gross vehicle weight of 80,000 lbs. to 120,000 lbs. to haul specialized heavy equipment.
Assess and analyze work sites for safety issues and design work to mitigate them.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

- Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver?s license within 30 days from the time of entrance on duty.
