You will serve as a MASON in the FACILITIES SUSTAINMENT DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You will perform masonry and concrete construction, maintenance, and repair work in accordance with established trade practices. You will use hand tools to lay, cut, and shape brick and stone for finished appearance. You will compute concrete requirements to determine amount of cement, sand, stone, and water needed. You will use oral or written instructions, blueprints, and specifications to determine materials and procedures for completing masonry tasks.

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1) Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work orders; 2) Using various hand tools for cutting, braking, mixing, or shaping; 3) Operating jackhammers and associated tools/equipment to drill, trim rough edges, break up and /or compact earth or concrete for a variety of construction/building purposes; and 4) Spreading mortar and finishing mortar joints with trowel point.
