The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the supervisor of an Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) maintenance team with the responsibility for supervising 20-25 AGE systems mechanics (WG-5378-10) performing inspection, troubleshooting, overhaul, modification, towing, servicing, and repair of a variety of powered/non-powered equipment.
Duties
- Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, and modifies support equipment. Removes assemblies to allow access to malfunctioning or damaged components of sub-assemblies. Diagnoses malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and applicable technical publications.
- Attends and participates in various meetings in order to provide inputs and implement maintenance plans. Reviews and evaluates deficiency analysis reports.
- Performs work as a shift supervisor. Plans the use of workers, equipment, facilities, material, and tools on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis.
- Troubleshoots and repairs a variety of special purpose equipment including stands, dollies, pressure cleaners, steam cleaners, hoists, hydraulic jacks, and other shop maintenance equipment used in support of AGE, aircraft and engines.
- Review and analyzes production data for problem areas, takes or recommends corrective actions and administers the elements goals program to employees, monitor self inspection program.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to supervise.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the installation, operation and repair of aerospace ground equipment (AGE), systems and subsystems to include AGE engine, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
2. Ability to read and interpret instructions, specifications, and technical orders, etc.
3. Knowledge and skill in using various types of general and special purpose measuring instruments, tools, and test equipment.
4. Ability to diagnose AGE engine, component, and/or subassembly malfunctions and determine methods of repair.
5. Knowledge of safety requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations and technical orders.
6. Ability to plan and schedule work to achieve maximum utilization of personnel, facilities, and equipment.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must be to work in strained positions, constant standing, kneeling, bending, and stooping over equipment being worked, lift up to 85 pounds; push and pull equipment in and out of the shop and short distances.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Incumbent is exposed to grease, oils, fuels, battery acid, cleaning solvents, slippery walking surface, hazard of electrical shock, high pressure air, engine noise, fire and explosion.
