This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Department of EnergyOffice of Inspector General - Office of Inspections, Intelligence Oversight, and Special Projects. As a Inspector, you will conduct inspection operations at various field sites under the OIIS Team Leader, Director, the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for OIIS, and the Assistant Inspector General for OIIS.

Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Must obtain and maintain a Q security clearance.
- The position is a Drug Testing Designated position and is subject to preemployment and random drug testing.
- Will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- Incumbent may be subject to relocation to another geographic location based on the needs of the organization and mission requirements. A signed Mobility Agreement is required.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:GS-12: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized Inspector experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service conducting field work in inspections of programs, organizations, management systems, and activities. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Review and evaluate the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the performance by conducting inspections of programs, organizations, management systems, and activities.
Implement appropriate techniques in gathering, documenting, analyzing, and summarizing inspection evidence that is sufficient and appropriate for the inspection objective.
Assist the project leader in identifying potential findings and their root cause with recommendations to appropriate officials.
GS-11: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized Inspector experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service conducting field work in inspections of programs, organizations, management systems, and activities. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

Implement appropriate techniques in gathering, documenting, analyzing, and summarizing inspection evidence that is sufficient and appropriate for the inspection objective.

OR
Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related.
OR
Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-11 grade level. Percentages will be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.
Education
Accreditation: Only education from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education is acceptable to meet education requirements or to substitute for experience, if applicable. For additional info, refer to the

Foreign Education: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs. You will be required to provide official college transcripts to verify educational qualifications, if selected. An official transcript must be sent directly from the University's Registrar's office and must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
