Duties

This position require military membership in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard (PRANG). Selected applicant(s) will be required to complete an online Onboarding process.

Requirements

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET clearance within one year of employment.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Proper protective equipment must be used to comply with safety standards.
  • Must possess and maintain a Security+ certificate. Applicant must be certified IAW DOD 8570.01-M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996 and current AF directives.

  • Continued employment in this position is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the mandatory training specifically identified for the position.
  • Loss of military membership will result in immediate loss of your full-time military technician position.
  • Excepted Civil Service Technicians are required to maintain a MOS/AFSC and military grade that is determined by the NGB to be compatible with the assigned technician position.
  • Individual selected for this position who is not qualified in one of the mentioned AFSC, MUST submit to HRO, before date of appointment, the correct military paperwork/application to attend the technical training school required to be AFSC Qualified.
  • If selectee fails to process the school application and does not successfully graduate from the school, he/she will be terminated from the technician program for failure to meet the compatibility standards and receive a 30 days notice of separation.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This position require military membership in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard (PRANG). If you are not a military member of the PRANG (i.e. member of the PR Army NG, civilian, active duty Airman, prior service, Airman member from another state, reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the State Production Superintendent (SPS) Office at (787) 787-289-1400 extension 1713 or (787) 529-6102 and request the PRANG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. If the MBR Certification is not submitted, or you do not meet the requirements to be a member of the PRANG, your application will not be screened. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1 = All permanent Technician Officers employees (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Air National Guard. Area 2 = All indefinite Technician Officers employees (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Air National Guard. Area 3 = Officers currently serving members of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. Area 4 = Officers Prior (former) members of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. Area 6 = Applicants who meet all requirements to become an Officer of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. Duties: As a MEDICAL ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER (D1718000), GS-0301-12, you will serve as the Senior Medical Officer for the entire installation, including tenant unit(s) and Geographically Separated Units (GSU) with responsibility for directing and managing all medical administrative functions including medical support, medical operations, force health management, force health protection, healthcare management, and related health applications. Serves as a fulltime partner with the Wing Commander, Squadron Commanders, Senior Management Staff, tenant unit(s) and GSU Commander(s) in planning, implementing, and executing medical programs directly associated with the objectives of the Wing(s), State Headquarters, and Air National Guard / Surgeon General (ANG/SG). The incumbent may function as the Medical Group Commander. Physical demands: Work is mostly sedentary but demands some standing, walking and bending. Working Environment: The incumbent is exposed to no unusual risk or discomfort. Work is performed in an office setting in the Medical Group. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess more than THIRTY-SIX (36) months of specialized experience identifying and analyzing issues and developing recommendations to resolve substantive problems of effectiveness and efficiency of the Group and Wing medical readiness; direct and manage all medical administrative functions including medical support, medical operations, force health management, force health protection, healthcare management, and related health applications and requires analytical ability, judgment, discretion, and knowledge of a substantial body of administrative program principles, concepts, policies and objectives; develop guidance on techniques for effective implementation and operation of the Wing medical programs; ensuing medical capabilities support the federal mission of expeditionary medical operations worldwide and state mission of medical response.

Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
The successful completion of a full 4 year course in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree (30 semester's hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of specialized experience.

Completion of courses such as the Officer Advanced Course, Squadron Officer School, Command and Staff College, Air and Army War College, National Security Management Course and others of comparable level will be credited at the rate of 1 month of education for two months of specialized experience.

Copy of student/official transcripts or training certificates showing conferred Degree must be included in order to receive credit for education. Unofficial transcripts from internet or with alterations will not be considered. To receive credit for education the information must be included in the education section of the Resume.
