The position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), New England Network (VISN1), at the Providence VA Medical Center (PVAMC) in the Mental Health and Behavioral Science Service (MH&BSS).
Duties

Major duties are but are not limited to:
Completes structured diagnostic and clinical assessments for patients and potential research participants.
Administers clinical assessments/interviews/potential research protocols and batteries of standard psychological tests and questionnaires to patients in individual and group format.
Administers and scores standardized tests and measures of neuropsychological, intellectual, academic, and behavioral functioning of adult inpatient and outpatient U.S Military Veterans and eligible family members.
Performs test administration via Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT) as needed following training and under the supervision of a licensed neuropsychologist.
Evaluates, monitors, records, and reports (to the responsible clinician) patients' behaviors, statements, motivation, and ability levels in relation to procedures needed for evaluation.
Develops and implements practical strategies for the efficient administration and scoring of tests and measures as previously described.
Maintains instructional materials and teaches students and others in precise methods to obtain accurate data.
Trains less experienced Psychology Technicians in the Providence Veterans Affairs Health Care System (PVAHCS) Neuropsychology Service.
Participates in training clinical neuropsychological trainees (i.e., graduate-level practicum students, pre-doctoral interns, post-doctoral fellows, and others).
Provides training in observing and documenting relevant patient behaviors.
Assists the licensed clinical neuropsychologists with instruction, monitoring, and supervision of trainees in test administration, scoring, record keeping, and documentation.
Participates in delivery of routine aspects of evidence-based manualized psychoeducation and cognitive rehabilitation interventions under the supervision of a licensed neuropsychologist.
Provides back-up support to the Neuromodulation and Neuropsychiatry programs in the delivery of services, particularly tracking patient progress using objective behavioral measures.
Develops and maintains systems for tracking neuropsychology clinic activity (including both assessment and intervention activities) and conducts basic computer-based data analysis and reporting as needed for program evaluation.
Develops and maintains databases of test results for use in program evaluation and research.
Assists in triaging referrals to the neuropsychology specialty clinic and in scheduling appointments to maximize service delivery.
Maintains current and complete stocks of assessment materials, monitors security of test/stimuli storage, and recommends equipment based upon value and reliability in operation.
Aids and assists research by monitoring suitability of patients for projects, recommending that certain patients be approached, and executing protocols.
Performs other duties as assigned

NOTE: Intermittent employment is defined as non-full time employment in which employees serve under an excepted or competitive service appointment without a regularly scheduled tour of duty. A position with an intermittent work schedule is sporadic and unpredictable so that a tour of duty cannot be regularly scheduled in advance.

Qualifications
ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position.
AND
Basic Education Requirement: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in an appropriate social or biological science, which included or was supplemented by 12 semester hours in psychology. Transcripts required.
In addition to meeting the English Language Proficiency and Basic Education Requirement, applicants must meet one of the following:
Specialized Experience: One year of technical work under the direction of a professional psychologist in a program of professional services, training, or research. To be creditable, at least six (6) months of such experience must be comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade (GS-6) in the Federal service, or one (1) year comparable to the second lower grade (GS-5) in the Federal service. Technical duties include experience with one or more of the following: (1) Assisting in research as in systematic collection of psychology research data, recording and collecting data, preparing tabular or graphic presentation of data, in accordance with a predetermined research plan; (2) Assisting counseling psychologists in contacting potential employers for the purpose of making vocational placement, providing follow-up consultation, administering and scoring of interest, achievement and aptitude tests, securing work history and other relevant vocational information; (3) Assisting neuropsychologists in administering and scoring of selected tests of neuropsychology battery in accordance with clearly defined procedures; or (4) Assisting psychologists in completing behavior rating scales or in conducting behavior modification. (NOTE:Experience under the direction of a professional psychologist is required and MUST be documented on your resume. We will not make assumptions regarding experience.)

Education: You must havesuccessfully completed at least one (1) full year of graduate study in psychology at an accredited college or university to substitute for the 1 year of experience to meet in full the requirements at the GS-7 level. (NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation.)

Superior Academic Achievement (SAA): SAA at the baccalaureate level in the coursework detailed above is fully qualifying. Applicants who wish to apply under this provision must submit proof from their educational institution that they meet one of the criteria listed below. You must submit a copy of your transcript with your application. Education cannot be credited without documentation.
To qualify for SAA, applicants must have completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled and meet one of the following:
1. Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university or major subdivision.
2. A grade-point average of "B" (a GPA of 95 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study.
3. A grade point average of "B+" (a GPA of 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all courses in your major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study.
