About the Position: This position is located in the Army Futures Command Headquarters - Executive Services (Protocol) office. Executive Services is the AFC Staff Directorate responsible for the execution and operation of protocol functions in the Headquarters (HQ) and the Joint Visitor's Bureau (JVB) for special missions and large events of the AFC Commander.
Duties
Serves as a Protocol Specialist within the Executive Services Office for Headquarters, U.S. Army Futures Command (AFC).
Plans, coordinates, and executes all protocol related functions for the AFC leadership to include the Commanding General, Deputy Commanding General/Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Command Sergeant Major, and SES and GO headquarters staff.
Plans and implements protocol for casual to formal social events (i.e., military balls, picnics, receptions).
Works closely with action officers to provide established requirements (receiving lines, flag display, seating arrangement, VIP courtesies, invitations and RSVP, ticket sales and money collection).
Plans and implements special events (POW-MIA, Cultural Observances, Army Birthday Celebrations, Memorial Ceremonies and funerals).
Serves as protocol escort for the duration of the scheduled event, providing advice and assistance as needed and taking corrective action for unforeseen requirements which allow the event to continue to a successful conclusion.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Applying knowledge of national and international rules prescribing traditional and diplomatic customs, courtesies, and etiquette sufficient to execute protocol functions; 2) Applying knowledge of organizational structure sufficient to analyze and assist in coordinating complex events to their conclusion; and 3) Analyzing program objectives to assist in implementing protocol for casual to formal social events. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.
