As the Artemis Integrated and Communications, Network and Tracking and Positioning Navigation Timing (ICAN) Tactical Lead with the Integration Division, Flight Operations Directorate, you will be responsible for implementing and executing the ICAN requirements. You will lead a team of highly skilled engineers to define, implement and integrate NASA's ICAN requirements across the Agency and with outside entities, and manage performance to plan for the next Artemis Mission.

Duties

Duties described below are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee. Coordinate with the Artemis Integrated and Communications, Network and Tracking and Positioning Navigation Timing (ICAN) Strategic Lead to understand and execute/implement ICAN requirements for the next Artemis Mission. Responsible for managing Artemis mission execution year performance to plan. Chair ICAN meetings, ensuring technical, cost, schedule and risk items are discussed, understood, resolved and/or elevated as appropriate. Report Certification of Flight Readiness for ICAN to the Flight Operations Directorate and the Moon to Mars Program. Represent ICAN to internal/external communities, routinely interfacing with high-ranking officials. Examples: FOD Management, JSC Engineering, JSC Safety/Mission Assurance, Artemis Programs and NASA HQ functions.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. GS-14: To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Providing subject matter expertise for a technical discipline such as, development and execution of requirements, procedures, training, or other products in support of a spaceflight mission; Supporting a team of technical discipline engineers to solve a problem, achieve a goal, or develop a product with resource and/or schedule constraints; Supporting a multi-discipline team to plan, train and/or execute a spaceflight mission. GS-15: To qualify at the GS-15 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Overseeing and leading a technical group which can include training and certification flows and/or managing work assignments and priorities, to meet program and/or directorate goals in support of a spaceflight mission; Leading a team to execute mission operations, training or programmatic (technical, cost, schedule, risk) leadership in support of a spaceflight mission; Providing an assessment of mission readiness for a spaceflight mission such as for a Flight Readiness Review. Education

Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following:
a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs
b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science
c) Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus.

If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.

Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
