About the Position: This position is located at Army, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center Fort Cavazos, TX in the Dir of Medicine, Dept. of Primary Care Clinic. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Assists patients in walking, moving, and changing positions. Applies and removes bandages, binders, simple dressings and hot and cold packs. Performs general maintenance duties including cleaning and arranging supply carts, cleaning and sorting supplies, instruments, and equipment; reporting deficiencies in supplies and equipment; and cleaning patient units and exam areas as needed. Receives telephone calls, patients, and visitors to the medical facility. Performs a variety of other support and clerical duties.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
• Child Care Background is required for this position in accordance with DODI 1402.5 (e) enclosure 5; memorandum dated March 6, 1992 Subject "Criminal History Background Checks on Employees in Child Care Services".
• Must obtain and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network.
• This position requires successful completion of pre-placement and annual medical examinations.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Scheduling patient appointments in appropriate clinics; 2) updating and maintaining patient records; 3) taking and recording patient vitals which includes blood pressure, temperature, height, and weight measurements. . This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as, medical, health, or patient records management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
