You will serve as a SUPPORT SERVICES SPECIALIST in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will receive requests for training, research sources, and arrange the training. You will prepare documents, reports, schedules and track action items through completion. You will approve credit card purchases. You will coordinate all administrative support work for the Detachment.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience following rules, laws, and regulations as it relates to Staffing, classification, employee benefits, labor relations, and employee development. Experience managing administrative, budget, and personnel work. Experience providing employee support for leave and pay matters, life/health insurance, security, travel, and performance appraisals. Experience ensuring that access to classified information is limited to those who are eligible and have a need to know. Experiencemanaging a variety of support services such as typing, mail processing, purchase of supplies and equipment. Education

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-09

A master's degree

or at least two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

with a major study in public administration, business administration, industrial engineering, industrial management, or other administrative or management fields related to the position to be filled

Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also qualifying for grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
