About the Position: Serves as a Housing Manager located at an Army garrison responsible for direct, on-site management, administration and implementation of projects and facilities.
Duties
Conduct activities to include housing referral and relocation support.
Maintain database of Housing inspections.
Conduct various inspections for Residential Communities Initiative (RCI) inventory for LHS, BOM, or in response to resident Complaints etc.
Assist the supervisor, in developing overall installation plans and procedures and development of short- and long-range barracks sustainment, restoration, modernization, or replacement projects.
Maintain data for new or replacement furniture, appliances, and equipment in accordance with established criteria or authorizations.
Monitor and assess the property management and maintenance operations of RCI and ancillary facilities for appropriate quality and performance levels.
Perform inspections, audits, and community assessments to ensure operations are following regulations, laws and closing documents.
Manage resident complaints, monitor issues and elevate to Housing Chief any issues that cannot be resolve.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver?s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
- Incumbent may be required to serve a one-year trial period.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes the following. Assist in the administering the management of barracks for military members and assist soldiers with family housing Work to provide management information for the development of short- and long-range plans for habitation, maintenance, or replacement of barracks and housing. Perform duties of personnel checking in, staying, and checking out of the barracks or housing and hand receipt items of Soldiers for Furnishings.
OR
Have a PH.D or equivalent doctoral degree or (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or completion of all requirements for an LL. B or J.D. degree from an accredited college or university that directly applies to the work being performed. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts)
Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment not to exceed 1 year by a current permanent Army Employee.
Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition.
Position may be filled as a TERM appointment not to exceed 3 years, if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. TERM appointments may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
