About the Position: This is a Planned Management Action announcement, an upgrade of an encumbered position.
Duties
Distribute the workload among employees assigned to each shift and make changes as needed.
Administer caller interrogation to determine the problem and nature of the call.
Evaluate 911 emergency calls, to include installation fire, police, ambulance service, and Commercial Intrusion Detection System alarms.
Determine, based on local policy and procedure, appropriate jurisdiction, and services to be rendered.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is designated as moderate risk involving Public Trust. Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation including a credit check to determine suitability for Federal employment and/or the position.
- Required to take a pre-employment physical to meet position requirements.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain certification in CPR, Basic Telecommunication, Emergency Medical Dispatch, Tele-communicator I and II, NCIC and Hazardous Materials Awareness within six months of employment.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
- Position is subject to shift work where the incumbent is required to work an alternate work schedule which requires rotating shifts and an uncommon tour of duty (including nights, weekends and holidays).
- This position is designated as mission essential and will be required to work regardless of weather or installation closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
- Performs work under stressful conditions and in a restricted office environment.
- Contacts are made with police, fire and emergency medical personnel, callers who are often distraught, medical personnel at hospitals, representatives of mutual aid and other agencies in order to coordinate required life and death assistance.
- The incumbent is required to wear a prescribed duty uniform.
- Individuals must possess and maintain a valid State of Alabama driver's license.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1). Responsible for evaluations of emergency calls including fire, police, ambulance service, and Commercial Intrusion Detection System alarms; (2). Manipulate computer keyboard to accept or defer alarms; (3). Monitor the status and availability of Emergency Response Units. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
