This position is located in the Division of Nursing Services, Pediatric Clinic of Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC), Gallup, NM. Provides independent assignments, guidance and leadership to nursing staff on daily basis. Develop plan of care for individual patients, plan and evaluate the kind of health and physical need. Delegates, provides guidance and direction to employees.
Duties

Provides guidance and direction to employees; will provide input on training needs and coordinate training of team members in collaboration with the Supervisory Nurse.
Coordinate work assignments, identifies, distributes and balances workloads and task among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and/or occupational specialization, making adjustments to accomplish the workload the established priorities to ensure timely completion of assigned team tasks.
Serve as a coach, facilitator, and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members. Participate in the Preceptorship/Internship Program as assigned.
Uses clinical judgment to ensure that patient flow continues and monitor patients in the event of an emergent situation.
Provides safe Nursing care to pediatric and young adults patients, observes and assesses the patient with accurate assessment and be able to intervene immediately by providing accurate medication administration of various routes (oral, IM, IV) as ordered by the providers.
Inform the supervisor of performance issues/problems, peer reviews, patient/staff complaints and recommendation for team or individuals awards.
Documents nursing interventions, therapeutic measure administered, patient's reactions, patient teaching and understanding. Performs professional nursing duties for pediatric patients; assesses the patient and develops a plan of care by interviewing the patient and family members, reviewing the patients' health records, determining and evaluating the kind of physical and health care needed.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing. A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education , Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Experience: The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. At the GS-10 and above grade level, many positions may require experience in a specialty area of nursing.
Basic Requirements for the Grade LevelGS-10: At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or above) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program.In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Carrying out professional nursing standards of care for adult and pediatric patients in an inpatient setting with chronic diseases and acute care. Patient can be stable to critically ill in both the inpatient/outpatient setting. Inpatient setting has the ability to utilize the medical home model of care, case manage and coordinate continuity of care with a multidisciplinary health care team incorporating socio/cultural, emotional, spiritual needs of patients and families.
