Duties

This position serves as a Government Information Specialist and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) coordinator, district records manager, administrative record expert, and assistant district webmaster. Provides FOIA support to the district by logging, tracking, compiling, and corresponding to requests. Provides support to the district by compiling, or assisting to compile, administrative records for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents. Ensures records retention and filing is in accordance with agency requirements. Develops, monitors, and maintains District intranet websites.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-07 level you must meet the following: Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Government Information Specialist. Specialized experience includes; performing administrative duties such as entering, retrieving, and correcting data in an automated data management system (data entry/coding); reviewing documents to ensure compliance and accuracy; and establishing and maintaining office files and records. Or Education: To qualify based on education you must have completed 18-semester hours of graduate education leading to a master's degree OR a full 4-year course study AND meet the Superior Academic Achievement (See OPM's General Policies, Application of Qualification Standards Section 4.f.) S.A.A. must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Applicants may also use an equivalent combination of the type and level of experience and education described above. To qualify at the GS-09 level you must meet the following: Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Government Information Specialist. Specialized experience includes; performing technical and administrative duties in the areas of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act such as review conventional FOIA requests, perform information searches, review records, and develop responses for FOIA reviewing documents to ensure compliance and accuracy; reviewing documents to ensure compliance and accuracy; and establishing and maintaining office files and records. OR Education: To qualify based on education you must have 36-semester hours of progressively higher education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Applicants may also use an equivalent combination of the type and level of experience and education described above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary. Incumbent is required to handle, box, and mail documents. Work Environment: The work is performed in an office setting. Occasional travel is required.
