This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Western Region in Phoenix, Arizona. The incumbent will be responsible for representing the BIA in its interaction with Tribal, state and local governments, and other Federal agencies, as well as the application and implementation of overall policies and programs by local agencies.
Duties
Responsible for day-to-day operations of Indian Services and Administrative programs concerning community, transportation and self-determination services.
Maintain working relationships with Tribal councils, Native American leaders and organizations to learn their opinions and understand their attitudes on reservation or Alaska Native matters of importance.
Responsible for review and appraisal of the various programs and activities within Indian Services that make up the total comprehensive trust program within the Region?s jurisdiction.
Administer the development, planning, and formulation of overall policies and procedures for the effective operation of Indian Services programs.
Provide position direction and implementation of departmental Equal Employment Opportunity objectives, and foster merit-based practices in the recruitment, selection appointment, training, and recognition processes.

Qualifications
GS-15 Minimum Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
Examples of specialized experience include: working with Tribal councils and Tribal leaders to uphold and discharge the trust responsibilities of the Interior through public laws and regulatory requirements concerning Indian Services, Tribal government, human services, Individual Indian Money restricted account review, transportation, self-determination services and environmental and cultural services; and overseeing all administrative functions of an organization including budget, finance/accounting, property, acquisitions, safety and facilities management.
