You will serve as a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC LEADER in the ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCE DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will instruct Electrical/Electronic Mechanics, Workers, Helpers, and Student Trainees (Electronic Mechanics) on proper work procedures, methods, use of tools, and safety.
You will check work progress to see whether the supervisor's instructions have been met as to sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
You will assign work, establish goals, maintain schedules, and verify the work has been accomplished according to procedures and instructions.
You will assure that the necessary plans, materials, and tools are available to accomplish the work.
You will perform various tasks in the shop and aboard vessels relating to sonar, radio, radar, navigation, and fire control equipment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Performing Electronics Mechanic work on equipment such as sonar, radio, radar, navigation, and fire control systems.
Using a large variety of tools and test equipment.
Reading, utilizing and working from complicated blueprints, diagrams, technical manuals, and electronic schematics.
Interpreting form tables, job orders, and test memorandums.
