This position is located in Surgical Service of the VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre ,PA responsible for clerical and administrative functions/support for Surgical Service Daily operations.
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities will include:
Serves as the records management liaison responsible for the accountability, maintenance, and disposal of records
Tracks action items and notifies supervisor of impending suspense dates
Provides administrative support for employee travel requests
Maintains employee competency folders, tracking and submitting appraisals, proficiencies, and awards
Assists with the management of the Chief's calendar, resolving scheduling conflicts, rescheduling appointments, and printing documents needed for the day
Generates, routes for approval/signature and tracks a variety of memorandums, letters, and other documents
Works in collaboration with leadership to operationalize quality assurance initiatives
Assists with developing, drafting, and updating support policies and procedures, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met
Assists with space and information technology (IT) matters, as well as, office supplies, and other logistical needs
Manages purchase card use, reconciling purchase cards, maintaining purchase card documentation
Performs timekeeping duties
Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/11/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS - 06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS -05. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Managing clinic schedules(staff and patient care), Troubleshooting of technical equipment issues (software platforms), Maintaining program(s) databases, Manage and tracking of purchase orders expendable and non-expendable items, Problem solving, Development and implementing systems and services (equipment/software installation and administrative accrediting and compliance requirements), Typing, Computer and various database knowledge and usage (VistA, Telehealth management platform, Telehealth SharePoint, MS Office applications, Excel, etc.), Overall administrative management in a clinical setting, Customer and Veteran focus service. This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the specialized experience, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

Physical Requirements: Work is mostly sedentary, but also demands some standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying of, clinical folders, forms, and miscellaneous supplies to various locations within the medical facility.
