About the Position: This position is located in the U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) Brigade (BDE). It serves as Secretary to the Commander and other key Command Group staff, e.g., Commander, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff, and Command Sergeant Major, as assigned at the discretion of the BDE Commander to ensure smooth administrative operation of the BDE.
Duties
Coordinates all necessary arrangements for travel; arranges schedule of visits, transportation, and hotel reservations; notifies organizations and officials to be visited and keeps in touch with the assigned key Command Group staff en-route.
Receives and reads all incoming correspondence, reports, etc.
Schedules appointments and maintains official and social engagements.
Receives telephone calls and visitors. Screens calls/visitors to determine nature of business referring only those matters that require their attention to the key Command Group staff.
Takes notes and composes conference meeting minutes.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) with 3 or fewer errors.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
