You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL SPECIALIST (METAL PRODUCTS) in the Equipment and Engineering Branch (Code 1460.3), Technical Support Division (Code 1460) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD, Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC).

Duties

You will evaluate new or modified equipment and processes to determine their potential effect upon the NFPC's mission. You will perform surveillance and follow-up production progress to locate actual and potential delays. You will maintain liaison with higher authority and engineering and quality assurance personnel to ensure uninterrupted production and timely deliveries of metal products and propellers. You will prepare production and delivery reports.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with large scale Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines' operation and maintenance cycles. Experience in processes and work flows of Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) to be able to plan required work on equipment and ensure the equipment is available for production. Experience maintaining relationships with higher authority to ensure uninterrupted production and timely deliveries of metal products and propellers. Experience working in a fast paced environment and handle unplanned/unforeseen issues which arise with the machines or NFPC production requirements. Experience determining commercial equipment availability and capability and the viability of customized Computer Numerically Control (CNC) equipment. Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting equipment life cycle data to develop, specialized procurement strategies for equipment refurbishment or replacement. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
