This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties
Maintains applicant medical records during the examination process.
Assists applicants in the completion of various forms required for the physical examination process.
Handles Privacy Act information on a daily basis and is responsible for protecting paper and electronic versions of all data.
Performs Quality Review Procedures (QRP) on medical records.
Documents discrepancies and submits corrective action/suggestions for resolution to the applicant's Service representative.
Prepares and annotates reports and logs to document results.
Prepares and transcribes medical data into the computer system, assigns ICD-9 codes, monitors files, and responds to the basic Dial-A-Medic questions.
Prepares notification letters, quality checks applicant identification against test results, and then gains required signatures for positive or indeterminate result cases.
Maintains control log, custody log and rosters, and treatment center referral list in accordance with regulation and policies.
Requirements
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to be physically able to perform (demonstrate) and evaluate military physical aptitude (maneuvers) tests.
- This position requires blood testing on a yearly basis.
- This position may require occasional shift work (before 6:00am or after 6:00pm) hours and occasional Saturdays.
- This position requires the seasonal influenza vaccination on a yearly basis.
- This position requires the use of restrictive and protective clothing such as surgical gloves and non-exposing footwear.
- This position requires a specific gender (male only) due to the nature of the work at Military Entrance Processing Stations which involves direct urine observation and examination of same-sex military applicants.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing assistance to higher level staff on physical examinations and documenting patient's medical information into computer databases, operating and maintaining medical equipment; laboratory centrifuges, and administering optical tests, audiometric tests, electrocardiogram, vital signs, urine collection and performing phlebotomy procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: Successful completion of at least one half year (9 semester hours) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field directly related to the work of the position to be filled, such as: Medical Technology/Technician, Medical Assistant, Nursing, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, or a related field of study. (NOTE: You MUST attach a copy of your transcripts for verification.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
