This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PILOT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0711000 and is part of the FL JFHQ, National Guard.

Duties

As a AIRCRAFT PILOT (TITLE 32), GS-2181-12, direct, evaluate, and issues technical guidance to aviation units on matters pertaining to aviation training, readiness reporting, the Aircrew Training Manual and National Guard Bureau (NGB) training management and planning. Oversees both collective and individual programs. Provide staff level supervision to training officers and noncommissioned officers in battalions and related requests for waivers of flying program requirements. Manage and direct the Additional Flight Training Period (AFTP) Program; audits and provides reports on utilization, entitlement, and total program execution. Administer Flying Hour Program (FHP) and Operational Support Aircraft (OSA) priorities. Facilitate direct communication between supported and supporting units involving aviation support. Coordinate joint training exercises. Ensure that all aviation support requirements will further collective training, both for aviation and supported ground units and will contribute to increased combat readiness. Oversee the training program for ground commanders in use and planning for employment of Army aviation assets.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only. Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency with dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. Military Grades: Officers, Warrant Officers: CW2 thru O3 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must be a rated rotary wing pilot on flying status; proficient in the unit-assigned aircraft (UH-60, UH-72, AH-64 or CH-47); possessing the flying time established by gaining command criteria, and the certificates and ratings required for the position; as well as experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of the principles of organization, management, and administration of ARNG aviation activities. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-12 must have at least 36 months experience and training in piloting military rotary wing aircraft to include UH-60, UH-72, AH-64 or CH-47; must have a minimum of 250 flight hours; experience in performing the work procedures involved in navigation, in-flight refueling; search and rescue operations; or surveillance and reconnaissance, experience in operating on mission tasking, intelligence reporting, and applying weather information, aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning; experience in filing of flight plans and conducting crew briefings; experience developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders in accordance with applicable directives and Federal Aviation Administration certification requirements.
