The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an instructor for the Maintenance Human Factors course which is designed to immerse personnel into the culture and knowledge of human factors philosophy\ focusing on the importance, requirements and implementation Maintenance Human Factors principles into daily maintenance activities.

Duties

Instructs students through assigned units of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels of Maintenance Human Factors . Develops and or revises lesson plans and training materials for curriculum in regards to Maintenance Human Factors Monitors and evaluates student progress and performance in regards to Maintenance Human Factors. Performs the duty as Maintenance Operations Safety Representative. Serves as the Maintenance Groups Logistics/Readiness Manager. Performs duty as the Emergency Management Program Manager for the Maintenance Group. Implements telecommunication programs and special projects. Serves as the Maintenance Group Telephone Control Officer.

  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Incumbent with at least an associate degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology is highly desired.
  • Previous experience with aircraft maintenance operations as a member of the US Air Force is highly desired.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • May be required to work on special projects as directed by the supervisor.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and or holidays.
  • Employee will be required to perform duties in the Maintenance Group Major Control Center during contingencies and under emergency conditions.
  • Recall to duty may be required of this position.
  • Overtime and/or emergency overtime maybe required.
  • Key Position - the duties of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or
  • office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve,")
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clerance.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position. The employee is subject to random drug testing (IAW HQ-USAF letter dated 29 Jan 90).

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1712, Training Instruction series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); Supervising or administering a training program; Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education must have a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction. 2. Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs. 3. Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses. 4. Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives. 5. Knowledge of computer applications. 6. Skill in written and oral communication. 7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
