The position is located in Environmental Management Service (EMS). The primary duties of the position are to transport linen, uniforms, and patient clothing to and from the Laundry and to the Charlotte Health Care Center, Kernersville Health Care Center and the Charlotte Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC)
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities include:
Become familiar with General Services Administration (GSA) vehicle books and regulations and use of the Operation Guide for each vehicle driven.
Driving duties include negotiating city traffic, state roads, and interstate highways. Incumbent performs routine driver's maintenance on vehicle in operation.
Be knowledgeable in diesel engine operation, which includes draining, thawing, and replacing fuel filters.
Operates diesel powered vehicles with heavy loads and is required to load and unload vehicles.
Possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and required to pass a periodic driving record background check.
Required to operate a 2 ? ton truck, with a gross vehicle weight of approximately 19,200 pounds, in order to carry out the functions of the Laundry Unit.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm

Qualifications

Driver's License Requirement: Must possess a valid Class C Driver's License to operate a motor vehicle.

Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Physical Requirements: The daily duties performed by incumbent consist of climbing in and out of vehicles, moderate to heavy physical effort in climbing on or in to load or tie down cargo. Incumbent works in all weather conditions, pushing and pulling laundry carts and supplies; climbing steps, etc. Incumbent must be physically sound and have good coordination of eyes, hands, feet, and vision and depth perception. physically able to lift more than 50 pounds consistently. Incumbent must be Incumbent must be mentally alert to traffic hazards and dangers.
Working Conditions: Incumbent operates vehicles in all types of weather and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Incumbent may be exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from fal ling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle. Incumbent performs any other duties properly assigned. Incumbent may be required to work in the Laundry due to breakdowns and/or shortage of staff.
