This position is located in the Headquarters Office of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Directorate for Epidemiology, Division of Hazard & Injury Data Systems, Data Intake and Injury Information Branch. The Division is responsible for the management, operations, planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and quality control aspects of the injury data collection programs. 

Duties

The Supervisory Program Analyst serves as the Branch Chief for the Data Intake & Injury Information Branch in the Division of Hazard and Injury Data Systems, Directorate for Epidemiology. The Division is responsible for the management, operations, planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and quality control aspects of the injury data collection programs. Primary Branch functions are coding, data entry, and quality control of data residing in CPSC's Risk Management System (CPSRMS) and Public Database including reports of harm submitted by consumers and others, reports from retailers and manufacturers, news reports, medical examiner reports, and death certificates; responding to outside requests for injury statistics and data from CPSC's injury data systems; notifying manufacturers, private labelers, and importers of reports of harm received by CPSC which involve their products; and providing customer support to users of CPSC's Business Portal.

Qualifications

All Candidates must possess the Selective Placement Factor (SPF) to receive consideration for this position.  The SPF required for this position is: Experience within the last 3 years): (1) developing/designing SQL queries based on information requests; and (2) writing complex algorithms to search multiple structured databases with a large number of variables.  The experience must be fully described in the duties section of your resume.  In addition to the SPF, applicants qualifying based on experience must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience managing, planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and the quality control of injury data collection programs. Evidence of the above specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held.  Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
