This career/career-conditional permanent full-time position is located in Richmond National Battlefield Park, in the Resource Management Division. Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-08/16/2023. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATION REQUIREMENT: GS-0401 Biologist A. Successfully completed a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelors or higher degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. -OR- B. Possess a combination of education and experience which included courses equivalent to a major as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. GS-1301 Physical Scientist A. Have a bachelors or higher degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. -OR- B. Possess a combination of education and experience-education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. - AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include the following: professional level experience in designing, implementing, and reporting scientific studies that address key issues of amphibian and reptile, avian, or small mammal conservation management, especially bats (species of concern) and deer, management of vegetation and/or fire ecology, specifically non-native invasive plant removal, inventory, and monitoring. You MUST include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in a major field of study or specific course requirements stated in the basic education requirement section. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify you must submit a copy of your transcripts. Copies must include your name, school name, credit hours, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. We cannot determine eligibility without this information. You must include transcripts. -OR- COMBINATION: Successful completion of a combination of graduate education and specialized experience as described above. To combine education and experience, for example, six months of the specialized experience described above (50% of the experience requirement), and 27 semester hours of directly related graduate level college study in an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education). Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
