You will serve as a Claims Examiner (Dependents and Estate) in the Navy Casualty Office of NMPC.

Duties

You will process claims in accordance with applicable federal statutes and regulations. You will input information into the Defense Casualty Information Processing System (DCIPS) for an office. You will examine claims documents to ensure the accuracy of the contents. You will screen and evaluate medical claim to determine action per regulations and standard operating procedures. You will explain status and regulatory provisions to involved parties. You will use correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling to communicate information in writing.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing an automated travel system to process Next of Kin (NOK) travel requests and liquidate subsequent claims; 2) Assisting with confirming payment of death benefits using various online tracking databases. 3) Assisting with inputting and maintaining accurate case information in an automated processing system (i.e. Defense Casualty Information Processing System (DCIPS) or similar system). Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successfully completed four years of education above high school level.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
