This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for IT Specialist (DATAMGT) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as Operations Officer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Information Management/Information Technology (CEIT) under the direct supervision of the Division or District IT Chief. This position is located in Vicksburg, MS, but Position Is a Remote Position.

Duties

Serves as the senior database administrator responsible for the Application Life Cycle Management and administration of multiple database instances. Monitors the availability, serviceability, and recoverability of installed database systems through the application of vendor or locally designed manuals, guidelines, policies and/or procedures. Develops and operates backup and recovery strategies, in accordance with the mission application?s requirements. Maintains a highly secure and available systems (24/7 basis and worldwide) by adhering to and implementing industry best business practices for the technologies deployed. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all DoD information assurance and security standards. Provides technical support for the Certification and Accreditation processes.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to maintain and obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Achieve Project Management Professional Certification within two (1) years of assignment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) Plans, oversees, develops, and implements database policies and procedures, and ensures data integrity as maintenance and modification projects to existing applications are undertaken; AND 2) Develops, creates, and maintains databases ranging in type and scope from localized user-administered databases to advanced enterprise database systems; AND 3) Plans, coordinates, and conducts the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of databases and front-end software to database systems. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
