This vacancy is for a Supervisory International Trade Specialist in the International Trade Administration within the Department of Commerce.
This candidate will serve as the Regional Director for the Southwest region, responsible for leading a team of professionals and managing all programs and functions in the region consisting of offices in the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Texas.
Salary will be determined after selections based on locations.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to manage and supervise regional functions, programs, employees, and resources that are dedicated to the U.S. Export Assistance Centers (USEACs) throughout the region.
Southwest regional locations include: Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; New Orleans, LA; Phoenix, AZ; and San Antonio, TX.
As a Supervisory International Trade Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
As Regional Director, the incumbent manages and supervises all USFCS functions, programs, employees, and resources that are dedicated to the USEACs throughout the region.
Providing oversight of trade promotion operations and agency metrics in the region, and planning, leading, and coordinating efforts of multiple organizations and participants in the implementation of agency programs.
Overseeing the expansion of the assigned U.S. exporter base through regional staff; identifying export promotion and economic development partners in the Regional Strategic Plan.
Leading and supervising multiple offices and project teams consisting of professional personnel to accomplish organizational objectives.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify at the GS-15 level:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as:
Planning and distributing work to be accomplished by subordinates.
Providing oversight of trade promotion operations and organizational metrics.
There is no education substitute for specialized experience at this grade level.
