You will serve as a PAINTER INSPECTOR in the Inspection and Project Quality Engineer Non-Nuclear Inspection Division of Code 130, Quality Assurance Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will inspect surface preparation such as mechanical cleaning, chemical cleaning, and abrasive blasting cleaning of hulls, tanks, bilges, decks and other critical surfaces exposed to possible oxidation, prior to application of protective coatings. You will inspect the application of protective coatings of shipboard structures. You will utilize specialized equipment and precision measuring devices during inspections. You will participate as a member of the Project Docking Inspection Team for inspection of the condition of ship bottoms and sonar domes. You will conduct a detailed review of preservation Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) to ensure all required data have been included in the technical work document.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
