About the Position: The Cook Leader position is in the Nutrition Care Food Production and Services at William Beaumont located on Fort Bliss, El Paso Texas.
Duties
Examine food for quality and freshness before preparation.
Coordinate with cooking performed at different work centers.
Prepare meals using detailed cooking instructions.
Plan meal services to ensure available quantities of food and equipment.
Operate a variety of kitchen equipment using gas, electricity, steam or microwave heat sources.
Operate and/or clean a wide variety of food service equipment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the selectee to pass a pre-employment physical.
- This position is inclement weather essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a ServeSafe certification.
- This position may requires a one year supervisory probationary period.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. Work completed for the Cook Leader position under normal supervision includes demonstrated experience leading employees to follow instructions; demonstrating proper work methods in a kitchen environment; AND preparing a variety of menu items individually and in bulk quantities. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Work involves frequent lifting or moving of objects weighing up to 30 pounds and constant standing andwalking. May occasionally be required to lift over 60 pounds (e.g., pans of meat, containers of milk).
Working Conditions: Incumbent is subject to injuries from equipment used; and is exposed to cooking oils, grease and heat fromovens. There is danger of slipping on floors which are wet from daily mopping or where food or beverage hasbeen dropped.
