You will serve as a Legal Assistant (OA) within RLSO SE JACKSONVILLE.

Duties

You will serve as a Legal Assistant responsible for providing assistance to the attorneys and the day-to-day management of all administrative matters within their office. You will be responsible for the day-to-day client intake, appointment scheduling, and case file management associated with the provision of legal services. You will serve as the primary liaison for all incoming contacts to the Department. In this capacity the incumbent must receive all personal contact information of personnel contacting the Department. You will have knowledge of the DON and Department database systems used to process and track cases within the Department.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Legal Assistant (OA) experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Maintains physical and electronic filing systems, client lists, and appointment schedules to avoid conflict. 2) Assembles legal documents for accuracy, format and compliance with procedural guidance. 3) Coordinates, prepares, submits and liquidates DTS submissions for witness and court-martial travel. 4) Controls or manages incoming correspondence using established office procedures (e.g., maintain files, tracking time-sensitive correspondence, database queries, and distribution of mail). 5) Reviews, analyzes and properly documents and files incoming correspondence to prepare appropriate response letters in accordance with office policy and procedures. 6) Answers phone calls to provide basic information to callers, respond to questions involving technical legal processes and procedures, and maintain confidentiality of information. 7) Responds to inquiries on a variety of matters (e.g., status of pending cases, administrative and court rules, appeal procedures). 8) Manages a secure record of electronic files in accordance with established office procedures. 9) Operates a computer and related equipment to complete administrative support functions.
