This position is located in Rock Creek Park in the Grounds Maintenance Division. The primary purpose of the position is to perform journey level gardener duties that are necessary for the proper maintenance and care of landscaped areas.

Duties
Performs a wide variety of gardening work using independent judgment.
Identifies and diagnoses insect disease and cultural pressures; applies proper control measure (i.e., use of pesticide or herbicide applications; measures may include biological controls).
Operates vehicles (up to 32,000 pounds GVW) and motorized equipment; uses a wide range of gardening tools to accomplish tasks.
Maintains a high level of personal and environmental safety.
Works with community and volunteer groups on gardening projects and maintenance.
