The primary purpose of this position is to assist in administration of public hunt and outdoor recreation program.
Duties
Checks incoming recreation users for compliance with regulations and maintains use records. Assures that users have proper permits and vehicle passes to use recreational areas and reports irregularities to Law Enforcement.
Posts information concerning the recreational status of the installation, and changes information supplied to the users at three check stations to keep information current.
Collects and records biological data from harvested game animals and makes measurements and takes samples from game animals.
Assists staff and volunteers to clean and maintain campgrounds, permits sales office, parking areas, and parking areas as assigned. Cleans and fuels vehicles as necessary.

- Duty days will be scheduled as required. Position is intermittent
- Work schedules are weekends; predominantly Friday-Monday. Hours may vary frequently and may begin as early as 4:30 AM and end as late as 12:00 PM
- This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. Employee must have a state drivers' license
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the six months of general experience AND three months of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-02 level requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Individual Occupational Requirements for GS-0025
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have 6 months of general experience AND 3 months of specialized experience. General experience includes knowledge in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work that provided a familiarity with natural or cultural history; fish or wildlife habitat characteristics; techniques of resource protection and use; recreational use of public lands and facilities; enforcement of laws, rules, or regulations; fire prevention techniques and fire suppression methods; or the practice of interpersonal relations skills in dealing with the general public. Experience in substantive and relevant secretarial, clerical, or trades and crafts work is also qualifying. Experience of a routine nature, such as typing, filing, maintaining records, or other nonspecialized tasks is not qualifying. Specialized experience includes knowledge of the functions of the outdoor recreation office to maintain files/records, receive telephone calls, and brief recreationists. Ability to follow instructions, comprehend, and apply written procedures for assigned tasks, such as cash management, outdoor recreation permit sales, biological data collection and management, and posting recreational use information. Note: your resume must show clear details of this experience Examples of specialized experience may have been in technical, administrative, or scientific work, fish and wildlife management, recreation management, law enforcement, or other park-related work. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include, but are not limited to, the following:
Park guide or tour leader.
Law enforcement or investigative work.
Archeological or historical preservation research work.
Forestry and/or fire management work in a park, recreation, or conservation area.
Management, assistant, or program specialist work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations.
OR
EDUCATION: One year above high school with six semester hours of related course work. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT AT THE TIME YOU APPLY.
UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE EDUCATION: Major study -- natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. Course work in fields other than those specified may be accepted if it clearly provides applicants with the background of knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance in the position to be filled.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position if the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of general office administrative procedures to answer telephones, maintain files/forms, keep information disseminated to the public current, and maintain a clean work area.
2. Ability to learn program's functions, regulations, and safety standards to brief installation recreational users and to answer telephone inquiries.
3. Skill to implement written and oral instructions pertaining to the collection and recording of biological data from game animals.
4. Ability to learn cash management system and procedures.
5. Skill to communicate effectively orally, using tact and courtesy.
5. Ability to learn computer data entry procedures and to safely operate motor vehicles and riding lawn mowers.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
