About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.
Duties
Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Research and Vice Deans to execute research integration and synchronization, through the West Point Innovation Hub to meet the Academies research program objectives.
Inform Academy leadership on key partner engagement strategies.
As the Director of Innovation, you will hold a faculty appointment, report to and assist the Associate Dean for Research with the research integration, synchronization, planning, and teach one section per year in one of the Academic Departments.
Inform Academy leadership on key partner engagement strategies.
Direct the daily operations of the West Point Innovation Hub to support the research program and Office of Research mission.
Perform duties as a key planner and resource enabler for research partnership summits and senior engagements.
Engage with research center directors and department and external partner LNOs to ensure synchronization across research lines of effort.
Serve as member of the Dean's engagement planning team.
Teach and conduct research in own area of expertise.
Requirements

This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 13 months. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Applicants will be evaluated on the following: 1) Academic Accomplishment (Master's or Ph.D. preferred); 2) Ability to teach at the college level; 3) Demonstrated ability to conduct research, event planning, and coordination across large organizations (to include the ability to research in collaboration with U.S. Government agencies, academic institutions, and/or private sector entities); 4) Ability to mentor cadets and faculty on entrepreneurial ideas and activities.
