Duties

AUSAs have the opportunity to represent the interests of the United States of America in the United States District Court of Arizona and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. In performing this important public service, AUSAs exercise responsibility that is unparalleled in any other job that a litigator might undertake. AUSAs in the Flagstaff, Arizona office have the opportunity to prosecute a wide variety of violations of federal laws, including cases arising from the National Park Service, United States Forest Service, and other public lands, as well as working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation on cases arising from Indian Country. The Flagstaff office of the U.S. Attorney's Office is located two hours north of Phoenix. Sitting at almost 7,000' elevation and surrounded by pine forests, Flagstaff is a popular destination for winter sports and is home to Northern Arizona University, one of Arizona's three state universities. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Applicants must possess a J.D. degree and be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction); be able to work well with client agencies and the public; possess superior oral and written advocacy skills; have strong character and interpersonal skills; have good judgment; and have demonstrated the capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment. Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 1* year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. United States citizenship is required. You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
