This National Guard position is for a MATERIALS HANDLER, Position Description Number D0903000 and is part of the FL USPFO, National Guard.
Duties
As a MATERIALS HANDLER, WG-6907-6, you will perform a full range of warehousing activities to include receiving, storing, selecting and shipping bulk and bin materials and equipment. Assist in the development of plans for storage and arrangement of stock to determine warehouse configuration, setup, movement, rearrangement and traffic flow. Prepare items for processing, utilizing appropriate Standard Army Management Information System (STAMIS) such as computer terminal and bar code reader to read, store, track and prepare material documentation. Perform quality assurance inspections of materials in storage. Prepare a variety of supply documents and reports. Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials within docking area. Screen and Identify shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies, and direct shipments to shipping or storage areas. Identify, examine, classify, accept and dispose of a wide variety of materials and property. Determine physical condition and serviceability of material and property.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Incumbent often stands on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Work involves bending, stooping, and working in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry items that weigh up to 70 lbs. The heavier items are moved with material handling equipment, or with assistance from other workers.
WORKING CONDITONS:
Works inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Incumbent is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized conveyor systems. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, and solvents and to high noise levels in working areas, the incumbent may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hard hats, steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

- Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1.
PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

Military Grades: Enlisted- E5 and below only
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to compare item identification against receiving reports and issue request forms; skill in using hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to move stock; ability to use hammers, pliers, and other hand tools; and to follow oral and written instructions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-06 must have 9 months experience or training in receiving, packaging, and preparation for shipment. Experience in compiling reports, overall warehouse planning, documentation requirements, and accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and techniques. Experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc.
