About the Position: Kimbrough is the headquarters of the U.S. Army Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC), Fort George G. Meade, includes a number of U.S. Army health clinics, occupational health clinics, telemedicine, behavioral health, allergen extract lab, drug testing labs, and environmental health clinics at several installations in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, & District of Columbia. Kimbrough provides primary care, selected specialty care & same day surgery for TRICARE Prime patients.
Duties
Work independently as a licensed clinical social worker uses advanced concepts, principles, procedures, practices.
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of family advocacy patients using psycho-social instruments to form diagnosis.
Obtain relevant data from legal, investigatory, medical, command, social service agencies, schools, resource programs, etc.
Interview offenders regarding allegations of abuse or neglect in order to establish them with treatment resources.
Develop treatment plans based on identified problems, psycho-social factors and treatment capabilities.
Perform crisis intervention services to assist in the protection of family advocacy victims.
Prepare related records and documents for inclusion in the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) record.
Prepare written diagnoses to document patient assessments and/or treatments.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement.
- Position requires completion of a Child Care Background Check investigation.
- May be required to work after hours on-call
- May be required to testify before agencies and/or in court
- Current and valid state driver's license is required.

Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Family Advocacy):
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in a family advocacy environment, assessing incidents of family abuse and neglect; and assessing and treating families dealing with the effects of family violence or neglect. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11]).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
