This position is located in the El Reno Indian Health Center located in El Reno, OK. The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive nursing services for ambulatory patients in the following clinics: Adult/ Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Diabetes, Prenatal, GYN, Pain Clinic, Endocrinology, Rheumatology and other clinics.

Duties

Serves as a member of the health care team with an assigned complex patient load. Performs a wide range of diagnostic support duties, which includes taking vital signs, documenting patient's pain perception, obtaining specimens, administering medications, receiving and recording lab results, positioning patients and assisting physicians with procedures. Supports patient and/or family in the integration of the patient plan of care toward changes to improve health. Observes and documents pertinent information regarding patient status in the electronic health record. Participates in planning patient care that is consistent with accepted nursing standards and in compliance with prescribed medical treatment plan.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): License: Applicants must be currently licensed to practice as practical or vocational nurses in a State or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia or must have applied for a license to practice. Acceptable verification of licensure includes a print out from a State Board of Nursing website or other applicable license verification website that reflects your licensure status along with an expiration date. Applications of candidates pending a license must be accompanied by documentation of a citation of the license number and State issuing it. Evidence of meeting the license requirement must be provided and verified prior to entrance on duty. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-4: have 6 months of nursing experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience includes nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures as described in the vacancy announcement. GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks as a Practical Nurse: Observing, recording and reporting changes in behavior of patients; carrying out nursing procedures according to guidelines and a nursing plan of care; providing instructions to the patient and/or family of the patient; taking vital signs and measurements; setting up medical equipment for procedures; and assisting physicians and registered nurses with procedures. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks as a Practical Nurse: Observing, recording and reporting changes in behavior of patients and taking action to alleviate problems; initiating a plan of action to carry out a nursing plan of care; providing education to patients and families of patients; performing a range of treatment procedures such as inserting catheters, sterile dressing changes, administering medications, obtaining peripheral IV access, giving immunizations; and assisting physicians and registered nurses with procedures. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
