This position is located with the USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Pacific West Area (PWA), Sustainable Agricultural Water Research Unit (SAWS) in Davis, CA.
The incumbent(s) will provide administrative support to the Sustainable Agricultural Water Research Unit.
Duties
Receives incoming telephone calls and visitors and refers them to the appropriate staff member(s).
Prepares travel authorizations, vouchers, and other standard office forms.
Uses office automation equipment and software to type, edit, and create a variety of standard documents in accordance with established procedures.
Types final, error-free documents, ensuring usage of correct punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and grammar.
Reviews and submits scientific publications and agreements based on established processes and procedures.
Prepares necessary purchasing paperwork and purchases on an as needed basis.
Organizes incoming packages and ensure delivery to the appropriate recipient(s).
Assist the specialist with minor information technology (IT) tasks.
Requirements

- Must be in good academic standing as defined by the agency as {define what has been established}
- Complete at least 640 hrs of work experience prior to completion of degree
- Enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying educational institution
- A signed participant agreement is required for employment under Pathways
- Satisfactory Background investigation and/or fingerprint check
- Successful completion of two-year trial period

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Pathways Program Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment from a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis.
Applicants must be seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) and be in good academic standing (GPA of 2.0 or equivalent) throughout the duration of their program.

GS-03:
Education: Completion of 1 academic year of post-high school study.
Applicant must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
