This position is located with the IT Management Branch at the Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a specialist/integrator in the implementation and ongoing support of multi-service clinical software applications used in the hospital and clinic setting. Also, serving as a Nurse Specialist, providing specialized nursing care to patients.

The applications coordinator manages the customization of the site parameters, table maintenance, technical settings and addresses integration issues with other software packages.
Periodically reviews site parameters and local tables with each service for accuracy and completeness. Coordinates implementation of new software products obtained by the facility that cover these functions.
Analyzes and evaluates processes related to information flow. Works with department chiefs, clinical leaders and staff providing consultation on integration of information systems implementation with clinical, business and administrative systems redesign as an integral function to clinical application management, training and implementation.
Maintains awareness and comprehensive understanding of all clinical software activities throughout the
service unit. Such activities may include, but are not limited to, electronic health information database (Script Pro, Omnicell, etc.) and teleradiology and telemedicine programs
Performs administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work concerning the administration of a nursing program for hospital, clinic, or other medical care facility.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (external link). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Basic Requirements for the GS-12 (or equivalent) Grade Level
In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level.
you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Implementing, analyzing, coordinating and evaluating multi-service clinical software applications in a hospital or clinic setting; Evaluating, managing and developing solutions to program failures following implementation of software patches. Teaching and training end-users regarding clinical software applications. Experience coordinating services for patients with chronic conditions requiring a long-term plan of care.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
