About the Position: THE JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL'S LEGAL CENTER AND SCHOOL LEGAL CENTER LEADERSHIP CENTER, CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA

Duties

Serve as the Regimental Historian /Archivist of The Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAGC). Invite speakers, coordinates funding, and attends to other administrative details associated with this program. Identify candidates for oral histories and conducts oral interviews or arranges for these interviews. Provide reference services in response to historical inquiries received by higher headquarters. Implement comprehensive program designed to educate and preserve the history of the JAGC. Assist the Leadership Center to develop leaders in the Corps. Continue to develop and implement plan for JAGC Historical Office, which includes an oral history program, maintaining a Regimental Historical Collection and Archives, and writing scholarly articles on the history of the JAGC.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Historian: Degree: history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history. OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes able to conduct historical research and writes narrative history articles dealing with a larger organization; implement programs designed to educate members of the organization and the public on history such aseducation, training, and operational activities of the organization; and assist and give instruction within The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School (LCS) and to the field. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: EntrepreneurshipHistory and ArchaeologyOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
