About the Position: Serves as a Supervisory Security Guard for the protection of government personnel, property, and technologies against sabotage, espionage, theft, accidental or willful damage, and destruction.
This position is restricted to persons entitled to Veterans Preference. If there are no Veterans Preference eligible applicants available, non-preference applicants may be considered.
This position located at Fort Walker, VA. The pay scale includes locality pay for Richmond, VA.
Duties
Serves as a Guard Supervisor for the Security Guard force under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations.
Responsible for safeguarding government personnel, property, and technologies against threats such as: unlawful entry, sabotage, espionage, theft, accidental or willful damage, and destruction.
Assigns work in terms of organizational objectives and special assignments, sets priorities and deadlines.
Assists with problems that are controversial or involve policy.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Must submit to a pre-employment physical, and annually thereafter, to maintain a level of physical fitness.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment Drug test and random testing thereafter.
- This position has been designated as Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions that result in the installation being closed for normal business operations, you are still required to report for or remain on duty.
- The position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position requires shift work and rotating shifts including overtime, weekends and holidays.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid Driver's License.
- This position has a requirement to carry a firearm and remain proficient in the use of assigned weapon with semi-annual qualifications.
- This position requires certification in CPR.
- This position requires the incumbent to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer .
- This position requires completion of a supervisory probationary period.
- This position is subject to the requirements of the individual Reliability Program (IRP), in accordance with AR 190-56.
- This position requires successful completion of security guard training.
- May be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
- This position requires working both inside and outside, with possible exposure to inclement weather.
- This position requires that you obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
- This position requires Security Response Capability Training for the employee to carry and deploy a riot baton, carry a protective shield and employ non-lethal ammunitions if necessary.
- Must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
- This position requires that you wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56 and maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes enforcing personnel identification and control system; developing training courses based upon regulatory requirements; maintaining liaison with local, Federal, state, county, and city law enforcement authorities; performing managerial and administrative duties relating to the security guard force. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-08).
