In this position, you will support both Gettysburg National Military Park (GETT) and Eisenhower National Historic Site (EISE) in the planning, development and execution of a safety program for the two parks.
Duties
Control or eliminate unsafe physical conditions, equipment and machine hazards, and risk in human performance which may cause injury to persons or damage to property
Represent the parks by serving as the Contracting Officer?s Representative (COR) on projects related to safety and occupational health
Serve as the primary advisor and consultant to park management and the park Safety and Wellness Committee regarding the parks safety program
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. citizen or national.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- May be subject to a one-year probationary period.
- All requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Status candidates must meet-time-in-grade requirements.
- You will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- A valid state driver's license is required.
Qualifications
In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess one of the following:
A. Two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's degree with a major field of study in the safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology - OR -
B. One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service conducting workplace inspections to identify health and safety hazards; recommending methods to eliminate or control any hazards identified; and analyzing data to discover trends related to accidents, mishaps, or other occupational health and safety issues - OR -
C. A combination of graduate education, as described in A, and specialized experience, as described in B, that when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement. (Please note that only graduate education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be used in this calculation.)
For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
