About the Position: This position is a Realty Assistant in the Real Estate Office, Detroit District, US Army Corps of Engineers located in Detroit, Michigan.

Duties

Update various computer programs and data bases. Maintain suspense records for correspondence and action-request documents. Prepare uncomplicated real estate audits to include real property accountability program, scheduling, and reporting. Establish and monitor suspense dates and inform supervisor of those that cannot be met due to a conflict. Contact landowners to secure rights-to-entry permits and licenses for survey or construction purposes. Prepare invitation for bids for leasing of Government-owned land and buildings. Develop charts, spreadsheets, graphs, and other visual displays based on work from rough sketches or samples. Prepare and review a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license to operate motor vehicles in accomplishing assigned duties.
  • Basic keyboarding skills are required to prepare a variety of documents. A qualified (40 wpm) typist is not required.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. For the GS-05: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes database management to include cross referencing multiple databases, making directories, and updating existing directories; identify patterns, logic and perform forecasting based on data from multiplesources; coordination with outside agencies; conduct inventory of supplies and reorder when necessary; composing or reviewing various documents to include legal documents, reports, and formal correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Education
