About the Position: This is a Audio-Visual Production Specialist, GS-1071-12, Position with the 196th Infantry Brigade, Pacific Office of the Commander Located at For Shafter, HI. This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months/years position. It is time limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.

Duties

Serves as an Audio-Visual Production Specialist for the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center (JPMRC). Incumbent is responsible for filming, editing and production of assigned videos, slide films, and multimedia projects. The media products are used to capture maneuver ground truth during military home station training rotations. Media products produced during rotation are used with in an Instrumented After Action Review (AAR) to stress key training points. Incumbent will supervise and assist in the production of informative media used in instructional / informational classes and promotion of JPMRC and its capabilities. The projects by nature are usually complex and highly technical. Creative analysis of a subject may deal primarily with abstract themes or ideas requiring a high degree of creativity and ingenuity to effectively communicate. These services may include animation or artwork, narrator, sound and music selection, mixing and recording, camera crews and editing personnel when production demands are beyond the personnel resources available within the Audio-Visual Division. Mixes or directs the mixing of these soundtracks into a composite soundtrack which compliments and enhances the picture portion of the production. Creative analysis of a subject may deal primarily with abstract themes or ideas requiring a high degree of creativity and ingenuity to effectively communicate.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • This position is subject to deployment (TDY up 50% of the time) under field conditions to support rotational training exercises as part of a deployable training support package.
  • Deployments will be to another training area. In the event of a deployment, the incumbent must continue to perform assigned duties to support the mission requirements until relieved by proper authority, or the mission is complete.
  • The incumbent may be required to live and work in tents or shelters while on deployment.
  • A physical may be required.
  • This position requires incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver?s License.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1). Experience in all phases of audiovisual production, and programming. AND 2). Use editing systems and other editing equipment for audiovisual production. AND 3). Plan and perform video, audio and multimedia production. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
