About the Position: This position is located at a hydro-electric generating facility that includes hydropower, navigation, fish passage and recreational activities. The project spans the Columbia River near the town of Umatilla OR, approximately 10 miles N. of Hermiston, OR and 30 miles S. of Kennewick, WA, which are full service communities.
Duties
Use test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, wave analyzers, frequency counters, function generators, logic analyzers, multimeters, reflectometers, and other instruments in performing tests necessary to determine operating conditions or malfunctions.
Coordinates and receives support from engineering personnel in developing standard practices for installation, upgrade, inspection, testing and preventive maintenance of electronic systems and for updating existing systems.
Reviews plans and schematic diagrams to provide design and installation recommendations.
Exchanges information and performance data for mutual resolution of technical problems which impact on the region-wide power system.
Performs installation, modification, maintenance and repair of digital electronic equipment and devices related to data collection systems, centralized control systems, remote control systems, and communications systems.
Requirements

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver?s license.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs.
- Pre-employment physical is required.

Without more than normal supervision, I have performed common tasks associated with the repair and maintenance of electronic equipment. I receive oral instructions as the nature of repairs, installation, or maintenance to be made, and can proceed to carry out the work, receiving advice and assistance as required, in cleaning, making adjustments and/or repairs, calibration, and retest of equipment including various relays, meters, recorders, controllers, indicators, radio transmitters and receivers, oscillators and amplifiers, electronic relays and other electronic and communication equipment. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required to stand for long periods on hard surfaces, climb stairs and ladders, work in awkward positions requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling and twisting. Requires a high degree of concentrated mental and visual attention, and ability to coordinate a high degree of manual dexterity with close visional attention for sustained periods. Must be able to distinguish colors. Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing frequently up to, and occasionally over, 45 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside and outside the powerhouse. Outside work subjects employee to usual climate conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow). Work is often unpleasant due to weather, dirt, grease, dust, high noise levels, etc. There is danger of serious injury or death if employee contacts high voltage electricity and danger of drowning when working above swift moving water. Employee is subject to the discomfort of wearing required safety equipment such as ear plugs, hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, safety harness, etc. Must wear appropriate safety equipment and protective clothing, and successfully complete and maintain all occupational health requirements.
