This position is located on a Forest Service Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center.
The incumbent is responsible for the procurement and management of material, supplies, equipment and services required for Center operations.

Duties
Procure and manage materials, supplies, equipment and services required for Center operations.
Use automated property systems and computer programs to maintain property records.
Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential supply actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Obtains technical information from journal cards, supply catalogs, technical bulletins, manufacturers catalogs and correspondence with suppliers.
Determines proper storage methods to prevent misuse, abuse, theft, protection against the elements and vandalism of all supplies, equipment, and property.
Responsible for the control, accurate recording, security and identification of all property.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
- Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.

- May need to possess or be able to obtain a forklift operator license.

- Must be able to obtain or possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) With the appropriate Endorsements within 90 days.
Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-05: You must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level (GS-04) in Federal service or equivalent public or private sector which includes most of the following: processing purchasing requests; preparing and maintaining stock lists; utilizing automated systems for data entry, reports retrieval, error correction, and searching for specific records.
For the GS-6: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as the majority of the following: performing supply support services to include requisitioning, receipt, storage, distribution, or inventory of supplies, equipment, or materials; identifying and resolving excess inventory; tracking and reconciling inventory purchases and accounts; performing procurement duties utilizing manual and automated procurement systems.
For the GS-7: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as the majority of the following: maintaining an inventory of stock; processing supply transactions; using an automated supply database or system to track requisitions or maintain supply records; and receiving and issuing stock; considering technical requirements to determine interchangeability or acceptability of substitute items; selecting the best procurement methods in accordance with applicable regulations; reviewing and analyzing stock data to ensure efficient inventory levels are maintained; identifying and resolving excess inventory; acting with authority to commit funds to initiate inventory procurement process; tracking and reconciling inventory purchases and accounts; performing procurement duties utilizing manual and automated procurement systems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
