You will serve as a PARALEGAL SPECIALIST in the Office of Counsel (Code 130) of SUPSHIP.

Duties

You will review documents, case files, correspondence and other matters submitted to the Office of Counsel for advice, guidance or action. You will serve as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Coordinator and respond to FOIA requests and other requests for official information and testimony involving matters in litigation. You will assist in the preparation and presentation of cases before administrative tribunals and courts of law. You will manage the financial disclosure management OGE 450 filing system, scrub rosters of required filers, coordinate and administer required ethics training, review submitted disclosures and prepare draft letters of caution for signature. You will maintain tickler file for law publications, orders current publications, and updates training materials as necessary. You will prepare routine and sensitive attorney-client privileged documents from rough drafts. You will perform legal research and drafts legal correspondence, memoranda and reports on legal questions arising in the area of ethics, standards of conduct, and conflicts of interest. You will serve as Office Manager for the Office of Counsel. You will perform ERP Timekeeping, Training and Travel Orders, Vouchers and Requests, through Defense Travel System (DTS) for the Office of Counsel, and maintain calendars, arrange schedules, and maintain suspense file of action and follow-up items. You will serve as the Privacy Act/PII Program Coordinator and administer the Privacy Act Program for the command.

Requirements

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: "Providing paralegal and administrative support to a legal office in the areas of procurement and contract administration law, personnel and labor law, equal employment opportunity (EEO), Ethics, Financial Disclosure Management of the OGE 450, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and law office management."
