As the Flight Dynamics Human Lander System (HLS) Integration Lead, you will serve as the Flight Dynamics lead representative for all HLS Flight Dynamics development activities. The HLS Integration Lead will integrate and coordinate flight dynamics related tasks and actions across the Flight Dynamics Division (FDD) in support of the HLS Program for either SpaceX or Blue Origin designed vehicles.

Duties

Presents information at the appropriate Artemis boards and panels where Human Lander System (HLS) flight dynamics topics and issues are discussed and/or provides direct support to the representatives at those panels. Integrates and coordinates HLS flight dynamics topics outside of Flight Operations Division (FOD) with organizations such as Engineering, HH and P, Vehicle HLS Program, Commercial Providers, and across applicable NASA centers. Formulates Flight Dynamics Division (FDD) recommendations internal to FOD as well as external to the HLS program and commercial partners. Represents the FDD and FOD at operations, engineering, safety, partner, and program forums to ensure all flight dynamics associated issues are dispositioned successfully balancing vehicle development, operational, and safety perspectives. Evaluates risks associated HLS flight dynamics issues with the systems or trajectory, provides evaluation of operations concepts, and clearly communicates the evaluations / recommendations to the appropriate forum. Leads and/ or participates in formulation of real-time trajectory operations concepts for HLS vehicles in support of the Artemis mission campaign. Provides real-time operations support during Artemis missions.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level. Integrating the operational concepts for spacecraft trajectory operations (hardware and/or software) for Human Space Flight Programs (for example, ISS, Commercial Crew Program, HLS Program); Leading or participating on a team responsible for human spaceflight real-time operations, systems, training, and integration including operational products and mission objectives, mission control center operations and disciplines, and operational techniques; Assessing human spaceflight operations concept development and evaluations. Education

Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following:
a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs
b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science
c) Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus.

If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.

Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
