This Supervisory Social Worker position is in Social Work services at the VA Boston Healthcare System. There position is full-time at 40 hours per week, located at the JamaIca Plain, MA Location. Will be required to travel to other CBOC Sites.

The incumbent has a combined role in the medical center. He/she supervises a number of social
workers at several sites and is responsible for administering the day to day Employee Assistance
Program at the Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury Sites providing back up coverage for the Boston VA EAP
Coordinator at the Brockton and West Roxbury Sites and other CBOC sites. In this position, the
incumbent is responsible for working with employees who have a wide range of psychosocial
problems, such as substance abuse, emotional, financial, marital, family, legal, etc., which
interfere with their work productivity. The incumbent is also responsible for assuring that the
program is in compliance with the VA and OPM regulations.
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to the CSWE website to verify if that social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a master of social work.
Licensure: Individuals assigned as Social Work Supervisor must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
English Language Proficiency: Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j.
Grade Determinations/Minimum Qualifications for GS-12 Supervisory Social Worker: Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Worker must have one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) listed below for the GS-12 level.
(a) Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.
(b) Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement.
(c) Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services.
(d) Ability to provide staff training and development.
(e) Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees, team leaders, and managers.
Preferred Experience: Employee Assistance Program Experience.

Physical Requirements: Must be in overall good health, able to sit at a desk working at a computer, engage in light to moderate physical activity including sitting, walking, bending, and carrying supplies.
